Selwyn Snowfields Holiday Accommodation
There are numerous accommodation options for
people wishing to take advantage of the friendly atmostphere
in this delightful family-run ski area. Selwyn Snowfields is
a family friendly skiing area situated in the Northern
section of the Kosciuszko National Park. Selwyn
Snowfields' has ideal family terrain, extensive snowmaking
and friendly, dedicated and helpful service. Selwyn
Snowfields offers a variety of skiing programs and
action-packed experiences that families can enjoy.
The historic gold mining centre of Kiandra is located on
the Snowy Mountains Highway, just a few kilometres from
Selwyn. Sadly, very little of the old town remains, and the
old courthouse is now used as a snow-clearing depot during
winter. However, there is a well signposted historic walking
trail with numerous information boards at various locations
of historic significance.
The Mt Selwyn and Kiandra area also offers some of the
best cross-country skiing in Australia, with well-marked
trails and relatively easy terrain. Selwyn offers over 45km
of marked trails ranging from 2.5km to 15km in length. All
trails are colour-coded, intermittently groomed and track
set. Shelter, toilets and car park available at start of
trails. Remember, the weather conditions can change rapidly,
so always follow the general safety instructions for
cross-country skiing.
Jindabyne, Thredbo and Perisher Blue
The town of Jindabyne is the major business centre for
servicing the large ski resorts of Thredbo and Perisher Blue
and the population swells almost ten-fold during the winter
skiing season. There are almost as many holiday accommodation
options in Jindabyne as there are skiers in the winter
season. The town also boasts two large, modern caravan parks
offering various standards of vans & units. With the huge variety of lodges, motels, hotels and houses & units available in the
Jindabyne area, you can be certain we can find just the place
for you and your family. Jindabyne enjoys a picturesque
setting, adjacent to Lake Jindabyne which flooded the old
town during the construction of the Snowy Mountains Scheme.
The 'mega-resorts' of Thredbo and Perisher Blue are less
than an hours drive from Jindabyne and offer a wide range of
on-snow accommodation to suit every taste. For those people
wanting 'ski-from-your-front-door' holiday accommodation,
Perisher Blue is the obvious choice (While it is only a short
walk to the ski lifts in Thredbo, you can't actually ski from
your lodge).
